Thrive Oncology Program
Sarasota Memorial’s care for cancer patients goes beyond treatment. Our supportive care services give cancer survivors and their families the resources to thrive following treatment—to overcome the challenging side effects of cancer treatments and live their best lives.
This is what the Sarasota Memorial Thrive Program is all about. Through our medically integrated fitness center, HealthFit, and in conjunction with the Jewish Family & Children’s Services (JFCS), the Thrive Program offers oncology-specific, group fitness classes, rehabilitation, nutrition, counseling and other wellness services to address the side effects of cancer treatments.
The Thrive Oncology group-exercise classes are FREE for cancer patients, survivors and their caregivers/support people, and are open to HealthFit members and nonmembers. The current schedule of Thrive classes at HealthFit includes:
- Oncology Yoga – Reduce stress, increase energy and strength, and nurture your well-being during this class led by a certified yoga instructor. Mondays at 1:30 p.m.
- Oncology Tai Chi – Improve balance, strength and flexibility with gentle, fluid movement that helps calm stress during this class led by a trained Tai Chi instructor. Tuesdays and Thursdays at 12:30 p.m.
- Mindful Meditation – Relieve tension and anxiety and promote mind-body awareness through guided meditation during this class led by a certified yoga instructor. Mondays at 12:30 p.m.
- Oncology Recovery Exercise – Improve balance, flexibility, strength and mobility using light weights during this class led by a certified group fitness instructor. Wednesdays and Fridays at 1:30 p.m.
